CAN City!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CANCITY | ALL CRAFT, ALL CANNED
20 Breweries & Cideries, Food Trucks & More, This Saturday at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre Plaza

VANCOUVER BC, JULY 26, 2016 - This Saturday from 2pm - 8pm, the Queen Elizabeth Theatre Plaza will play host to 20 of BC’s best breweries, cider makers and some amazing local food trucks. This isn’t going to be your typical craft beer sampling event as the producers from West Coast Canning have a message that they want to communicate - it’s better from the can!

Operators of Canada’s first mobile canning line, West Coast Canning work with many of the province’s up and coming breweries and cideries and want to showcase their clients’ delicious adult beverages and help bring them to the masses.

“We wanted to create an event that allowed us to first highlight the quality of the craft beer and cider being brewed here in BC, as well as the unique care and attention that each brewery and cidery is putting into both their product and packaging,” said Matt Leslie, co-founder of West Coast Canning.  “There has long been a stigma associated with cans as we immediately equate them to the mass produced brews we were stealing out of the family fridge as teenagers, but they are quickly becoming the preferred package to get these amazing craft beers and ciders to market.”

Great canned beer and cider to sample isn’t all you’ll find at this Saturday’s CANCITY; VIJ’s Railway Express and Roaming Dragon food trucks will be on site with tasty treats to enjoy with your drink samples. If two of the city's best food trucks aren’t enough, Cartems Donuts will be on-site with a pop-up donut stand serving an exclusive collaboration beer donut with Fuggles & Warlock Craftworks of Richmond, using their summer favourite, “The Last Strawberry Wit”.

Not only are there special donuts made just for CANCITY, but beer too! West Coast Canning partnered up with Hearthstone Brewing of North Vancouver to brew up “Cool Hand Cuke”, a mouth wateringly delicious Cucumber Sour Ale. A golden, slightly tart ale with a refreshing aroma and taste of cucumber at a very drinkable 4% ABV, the “Cuke” is available at select private liquor stores, the Library Square Public House and for sampling at CANCITY.

Breweries in attendance, in alphabetical order are Barkerville Brewing (Quesnel), BC Tree Fruits Cider (Kelowna), Bomber Brewing (East Vancouver), Category 12 Brewing (Victoria), Deep Cove Brewers & Distillers (North Vancouver), Dogwood Brewing (Vancouver), FieldHouse Brewing (Abbotsford), Fuggles & Warlock Craftworks (Richmond), Granville Island Brewing (Vancouver), Hearthstone Brewing (North Vancouver), Howe Sound Brewing (Squamish), Lonetree Cider (Okanagan Valley), Moody Ales (Port Moody), Old Yale Brewing (Chilliwack), Postmark (Vancouver), Red Truck Beer (Vancouver), Steel & Oak (New Westminster), Twin Sails Brewing (Port Moody) and Whistler Brewing Co.
