legacy liquor store

newly stocked at legacy liquor store in vancouver: The minds behind Chuckanut Brewery have quite a history when it comes to beer, establishing breweries and brewpubs across the world. Mari and Will Kempers moved to Mexico in the late 90s to start the first two Sierra Madre Brewpubs in Monterrey, and in 2001 left for Istanbul to start Turkey’s first brewpub, “Taps”. The Kempers were then asked to return to Istanbul several years later to build Turkey’s first small craft brewery. While overseas, they traveled extensively throughout England, Belgium and Germany, visiting breweries and attending several trade shows and conferences, gaining new information that they now share with their Northwest Washington community. Chuckanut Brewery & Kitchen is passionate about being a sustainable member of their community and taking care of the environment. Since opening their doors in late July 2008 a movement towards Zero Waste has been implemented, recycling spent grains with local farmers, an...

pike brewing

the pike brewing expansion is complete! PIKE BREWING COMPANY COMPLETES BREWERY EXPANSION Seattle, Washington, October 3, 2011 Pike has recently added new stainless steel bright beer tanks, cylinder-conical fermenters, conditioning tanks, a state of the art glycol chiller and a high pressure steam keg filler, and a new gearbox and motor on our mash tun, all allowing us to increase production by approximately 30%. Pike Head Brewer, Dean Mochizuki, reports that, "Our tanks are now full and we have, for the first time in the last few years, sufficient stock to supply orders." Pike Sales Manager, Steve Case, had advised distributors to sell Pike beers primarily to existing accounts until the increased capacity was realized. He is now advising, "Full steam ahead!" Steve, a seasoned professional, joined the brewery in early 2011 and reports that the Pike brand is "on fire!" Dean, who has been with the brewery nine years, was promoted to head brewer in Apri...

reel swordfish

Image
when i went to firefly to pick up my hop in the dark about a month or so ago, lundy (the beer expert) told me i needed to get fish brewery's reel ale swordfish double cascadian dark ale because i am obedient where beer commandments are concerned, i did so however, i didn't get around to drinking it until last weekend what can i say, my beer fridge runneth over! "Swordfish Cascadian Dark Ale (CDA) is dark in color, with a prominent “Northwest” hoppy aroma – citrusy, piney and resinous – with sweet malt, hints of roastiness and toasted malt. The flavors strike a beautiful balance between citrusy Northwest hops and, to a lesser degree, roasted, chocolate malt or caramel notes. Despite it’s rich color, the body is more reminiscent of an India Pale Ale, not heavy like a porter or stout. It takes the very deft hands of our Fish brewers to make these flavors play well together so that they don’t fight one another. But as you’ll see with Swordfish CDA, when that perfect b...

hoppy bitch

Image
just in time for ipa day, i drank a hoppy bitch! from trade route brewing  of pacific washington she's only 60 ibus according to the bottle and very nicely balanced but yes, she is a hoppy bitch! website says: This northwest IPA is bold and balanced, with a rich malty flavor and a strong hop presence. We use premium 2-Row, Crystal, Munich and Victory malts to create the perfect base for showcasing Yakima-grown Columbus hops. After one sip you’ll agree, this is one hoppy bitch of a beer. 6.3% ABV 80 IBU amanda and sarah brought this one back for me from washington because they love me and because they rock!!   i liked it its not a hop monster, so you could probably taste another beer after this one! its not going to make my top ten list but i would definitely and quite happily have this one again

from pike brewery in seattle: By craft brewery standards,  we are but a baby in relation to many of the greatest European breweries. However, in America, we are regarded as a pioneer. At 21, our beers give those breweries from across the pond, a real run for their money. Our customers tell us daily that Pike beers are both first and world class. We may be mature, however,  we still feel like a kid with a future as bright as a Pike Pale. Speaking of which, our coming of age was celebrated for a week, with prices rolled back to opening day prices on Pike Pale, XXXXX Stout, and IPA. Guests were delighted with our special prix fixe dinner, described by various guests as "awesome," "sensational," and "delicious." Our birthday celebration was a movable feast,  with delicious events at which Charles and I presented Pike. At  Lamb Jam   we were so popular  that we had to do a second beer run an hour into the event, confirming what we already knew:  beer goe...
