It’s the Whistler beer festival this coming weekend – there are events like cask nights and tastings beginning Wednesday evening, leading up to the tasting festival on Saturday and Sunday. A couple of the area’s not-yet-opened breweries will be pouring beers at the fest, namely Back Country Brewing from Squamish and Highway 97 from Penticton, so be sure to try those ones! While you are in Whistler, you could take advantage of the opportunity to go check out the newly opened Coast Mountain B...

dead frog brewery does a major overhaul of its beers jan zeschky calls it dead frog's second coming i think its more like the third or fourth, but who's counting? "Dead Frog is dead. Long live Dead Frog!" i think we all knew it was just a matter of time before brewmaster tony dewald turned that place around er, well, we hoped anyway! and it sure looks like tony has succeeded where several other brewers before him did not no more pepper lime, no more mandarin no more anything except for the nut brown (which i have a very soft spot for - it was the first bc craft beer i had that resonated with me enough to make me search out more local brews and end up here, your humble blogger and beer blatherer - and i may or may not have a dead frog inspired beer tattoo commemorating that life-changing a-ha moment) no more clear glass sleemanesque bottles its a whole new world! i can't help rooting for dead frog even when they went down so many misguided paths th...

beer tasting workout - train to be a better beer taster (do they mean train to find better beer to taste, or train to be more adept at distinguishing beer flavours?) is the craft beer boom going to go bust? the national post seems to think so although they do get a few beer facts wrong like the bitterest brews in vancouver being from 35 to 70 ibus... and "craft beer's bold flavours appeal to the pallets of the few" is both simplistic and mis-spelled p'shaw! but i love that vancouver's craft beer gets exposure in the national post jan zeschky on howe sound brewing's continued success and awards at the north american brewing awards vancouver craft beer week was good for the economy not surprising, but nice to see some stats released in advance of the public getting a say in tasting room rules why intelligent people drink more alcohol
