Beer labels have been around for ages: 83 years on cans, and much longer than that on bottles. It appears we’ve been loving beer labels for that whole time—just check out all the vintage labels you can buy on eBay! Doesn’t it seem, though, that we’re loving beer labels extra hard right now? Maybe it’s that size matters. Beer cans, especially those tall boys, offer lots of real estate for labelling. Large-format bottles provide a sizeable canvas as well. this sounds like a fun event! which brewery can build the fastest beer can car??? At the Beer Can Derby, contestants make race cars out of beer cans and run them down a giant track (kind of like Matchbox or Kub Kars, but for adults). Prizes will be given to both the fastest and best-looking cars. Attendees are encouraged to make their cars beforehand, but we will have plenty of parts available at the main event to make cars. Our main event is event Sunday, November 8, from 1-5 PM. We’ve built an amazing track for our inaugural event: 64 feet long with a minimum starting height of 8 feet before another drop off the stage–should be amazeballs! We have prizes for three racing classes (based on can size) as well as a prize for the best-looking car overall. my notes from yesterday's beer column on cbc radio one's on the coast with stephen quinn: 2015 marks the 80 th anniversary of the beer can.    Beer cans have survived market ups and downs, and waxing and waning popularity for 80 years now.   Now they are experiencing a boom along with craft beer. Although macro breweries, which use a lot of cans, are experiencing a decline in market share more craft brewers are embracing the can as an economical and advantageous way of packaging beer for the public.
