Celebrate MIDSUMMER with Strange Fellows Brewing Strange Day #6 at Strange Fellows Brewing, June 15th through 21st As the sun sets on the longest day of the year, all over the world people light bonfires to celebrate the sun's triumph over darkness. In some places people jump over the fire to symbolically ward off the cold of the coming winter. Elsewhere, fishermen gather on the edge of the ocean to pray and make offerings to the Siren of the Seas in exchange for safe passage and a bountiful catch. If the gifts are carried out to sea, she has accepted them and their giver will be blessed with good fortune. To ensure luck for the coming year, join us for a celebration that is inspired by the sun's brilliance! On Thursday June 18th from 6-9pm, we will be hosting a Midsummer BBQ. We hope you will join us for some delicious food, a glass of dry-hopped cask Talisman, and music courtesy of our festive friends The Carnival Band! Strange Fellows is a craft brewery inspired by tra...

golden stag awards

last night i was fortunate enough to have already procured my ticket to the sold out golden stag homebrewing awards event at london pub and snag a last minute cancellation one for my buddy people, i can't remember when i have felt that much love in a room! it was a fantastic event! for the complete list of winners in the 23 categories (323 entries were submitted) please head on over to the vanbrewers' website the vanbrewers cleaned up at the event which was judged by blind tasting of course and most of them were at the london pub to accept their medals my photos are still on my camera at this point in time, natch but i do have several shots of the locals with necks bowing under the weight of so many medals that i will post eventually - how's sunday afternoon for you? or maybe monday or tuesday, let's be realistic here! featured for the brewers and their adoring fans alike were 11 collaboration beers for us to sample a few were brewed solely by russel...

camra spring sessional

Image
oh the beers i did drink! camra vancouver's spring sessional featured a schwack load of casks all intended to be below 3.5% abv most made the 3.5% cut, but a few did not all however, were big on flavour! and this cask event saw the birth of the "wall of casks" the wall was a thing of beauty and a joy to behold but boy, did it ever make for crazy cramped quarters when you're back there pouring! still, having the central place to procure beer left the rest of london pub for mingling which i found to be an improvement over the winter fest at st. augustine's that featured casks all around the outside of the establishment leaving only the crowded centre for mingling and, patting myself and all the other amazing pourers on the back here, the line up at the central location did not ever get unbearably long so, thumbs up to camra executive (and president martin who built it) for the novel wall of casks! i managed to try most of the casks, skipping only ...
