TO 2 YEARS!
Our journey wouldn't have been the same if it wasn't for the
friends we've made in Vancouver who share our passion for local
food and craft beer. We can still recall the day back in October
of 2012 when we first introduced our concept to Vancouver and how
welcoming everyone was. November 2013, our dream became a reality
when we opened our doors and raised a toast to our new home.
Thank you for your continued support and for sharing our passion
As we turn two, a few highlights we would like to toast to are:

YELLOW DOG SHAKE A PAW
In 2014, after 3 months of being open, Yellow Dog Brewing took home
the "Best in Show" prize for their Shake A Paw Brown Smoked
Porter and made quite the name for themselves in the craft beer
community. Owned by Mike and Melinda Coghill along with their head
Brewmaster Liam Murphy, Yellow Dog Brewing has become a local
landmark in Port Moody and has set the tone for other breweries
opening on Murry Street. For many that might not know, Liam Murphy
used to work very closely with Brewmaster Graham With from Parallel
49 Brewing. It's been said all the secrets Liam might know about
brewing great beer can be traced back to the good old days when
Graham trained Liam on what it takes to brew great beer.
To learn more about the brewery, enjoy great beer and great food,
join us on Tuesday, November 24 for our Yellow Dog Brewmaster's
Dinner. Limited tickets available here. And
if you haven't had a chance to enjoy Shake A Paw Smoked Porter, you
can enjoy this award winning beer poured fresh from our taps.
My article on gender parity is on the Growler website! BREWING UP GENDER PARITY: THE QUEST FOR BEERQUALITY REBECCA WHYMAN • JUNE 13, 2019 Women are markedly underrepresented in craft beer. This is not news to anyone. But have you ruminated on just how large the gender gap is? A 2018 survey by Nielsen-Harris found American craft beer drinkers are 68.5 per cent male and 31.5 per cent female. Closer to home, BeerMeBC’s 2018 survey had those numbers at 71 and 29 per cent, with 0.32 per cent identifying as “other.” For those not so strong in the math department, that means that there are only three women drinking craft beer for every seven men. If you were a straight man looking for a date, you wouldn’t like those odds at all. And I can tell you, as one of those three women, it’s not much fun being outnumbered everywhere I go to enjoy my beloved craft beer, delightful as those seven men may be. Drinking craft beer is the easy part—when we move into the sections of craft
