if you'll be in toronto on easter weekend:
On April 4, Belgian beer lovers around the world will raise
a glass and toast to the creativity and passion of Belgian brewmasters.
Known as Belgian Beer Day, the first toast is initiated
from “Grote Markt” in the historical city-center of Antwerp. Using a live
stream webcam, the Belgian beer day organizers start toasting at midday (and
every 3 hours) to the participating bars worldwide from Australia to Canada.
In Toronto, Belgian beer fans can take part in the
worldwide toast at BeerBistro from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm. Open to the public people
can register at Belgianbeerday.ca.
Beer lovers outside of Toronto can virtually participate in the
toast on Twitter by following #BBD2015. They can also a bring home a taste of
Belgium with these distinctly Belgian brews:
Affligem - a Belgian Abbey ale with a light hoppy taste, an elegant
bitterness and slightly bitter aroma. At 6.8% alc./vol per bottle, this
unpasteurized, all natural beer has a complex nose of dried fruit, malt and
spices with a balanced palate of dried fruit flavours.
Delirium Tremens - elected as the Best Beer in the World, is a triple-fermented
Belgian golden ale with a dense head, a very fruity bouquet, a sweetish palate
and a lot of warming alcohol at 8.5% ABV.
Früli - an all natural Belgian
Strawberry Wheat Beer brewed with a blend of coriander, orange peel and pure
strawberries. With 4.1% alc./vol and just 125 calories, Früli is a balanced and refreshing beer that is packed with
strawberry fruit flavour.
Mongozo - the first lager in the world brewed to combine Max Havelaar
Fairtrade, organic and gluten-free in one bottle. Unlike other gluten-free
beers, this easy drinking beer with 5.0% ABV is brewed using barley malt which
gives it a full lager taste.
Mort Subite - an all natural lambic fruit beer, available in Kriek (sour cherry)
or Framboise (raspberry) flavours. At 4.5% alc./vol Mort Subite comes in a
corked bottle and is light and bubbly with a delicate aroma and good acidity
making it a perfect aperitif.
