B.C. Gin Gets Better with Age
Odd Society Spirits Releases Second Edition of Wallflower Oaken Gin
 

 

Vancouver B.C., April 7, 2015 — Odd Society Spirits is set to launch their second release of Wallflower Oaken Gin on Friday, April 17, 2015. The East Van distillery doubled their production for this limited edition gin, aging 200 litres in American white oak rye casks for six months. With approximately 500 bottles available, Odd Society Spirits Wallflower Oaken Gin is sure to sell quickly. 

Time spent in oak gives the gin a smooth texture and adds richness to the spirit, elevating notes of spice and complementing citrus flavours. The floral qualities of the gin are still present but pleasantly integrated with vanilla characteristics from the wood.  The Oaken Gin is available in 375mL bottles and priced at $28 at the distillery (prices will vary at private liquor stores throughout Vancouver). 

Guests attending the provinces' premier micro-distillery festival, BC Distilled on April 18 will be among the first to try the new batch. Odd Society will be pouring the Oaken Gin at the festival and it will be available for purchase onsite from the Legacy Liquor Store Pop-Up Retail Store.

Spring has sprung, and so have seasonal brews! Third Blind Mouse joins Electric Unicorn in ushering in the season! April 8th, 2015 - Spring has sprung and so have seasonal brews!  This year we're very excited to introduce the 3rd Blind Mouse Triple IPA, a massive bodied and deceptively strong citrus IPA, as well as re-introduce the Electric Unicorn IPA, that mystical Belgian-influenced, hazy summer favourite. Please join us at Phillips HQ on Thursday April 9th from 4-6pm to celebrate the re-emergence of the sun and for a special tasting of these two seasonals. Here's a little breakdown of each brew:       Third Blind Mouse Triple IPA 10.2% - 650mL We're not mousin' around with this brand new triple-sized IPA.  With a massive malt body and full, citrus hop nose, this 10.2% brew is surprisingly balanced and can really sneak up on you.  No blind luck here, just blind faith in great taste. Third Blind Mouse pours a beautiful sunset orange colour with a a marshmallow white head.  Full bodied and surprisingly bright, warm citrus flavours mingle with fresh hops that park themselves firmly on the palate, and seem to expand their presence after every sip. Third Blind Mouse is available for a very limited time at private craft-focused liquor stores.     Electric Unicorn White IPA 6.5% - 650mL Every spring we await the return of that special mono-horned laser beast: The Electric Unicorn.  This craft brewed seasonal stallion will never be tamed, so be sure to grab yours before it races back into the realm of fantasy. Electric Unicorn pours a slightly hazy straw colour, perfect for long summer days that tend to blend together. Aromas of mango and banana are underpinned with a hint of coriander. Sweet banana fruit flavours are balanced against a citrus hop background that finishes dry. Electric Unicorn is available for the season from private liquor stores now with government liquor stores stocking it in May.

Road Warrior is back!

Road Warrior is rolling back into town! Join us in the Tasting Room on Tuesday, April 7^th for your first chance to tame this big, bold, hoppy Rye IPA. We brew this crusader with Columbus & Mosaic hops, rich crystal malts and a touch of rye malt to build a sweet but tannic base for Mosaic & Amarillo dry hopping to shine through in the finish.  Green Flash Gastro will be on site with some tasty bites that will perfectly compliment this one of a kind brew, so come early and enjoy!
