brewdog

so inconvenient it is to me that brewdog is in the uk and i am in canadia i want to be a member of the abstrakt addict club but alas and alack, delivery is only to uk addresses le sigh

trouble brewing in uk

camra (the uk version) and brewdog are squaring off about the great britain beer festival and who should be allowed to attend brewdog accuses camra of dirty dealings in contract reneging camra cancels brewdog's bar at gbbf alleging failure to pay and follow contract who wins?  no one who likes craft beer who loses?  camra loses the younger generation as potential members, brewdog loses a marketing opportunity, gbbf ticket holders lose the chance to enjoy brewdog brews why can't we all just love beer and each other?

cask night

Image
the cask at the yaletown last thursday was iain hill's brick and beam ipa dry-hopped with uk goldings and it was delicious i may or may not have had far too many pints of it but really, it wasn't my fault i blame rob, who was in town from onterrible yeah, it was his fault or maybe it was the rum drinks they gave us to sample... kristy, rob and laura stacy, me and anne the crazy appelton rum drinks they gave us to sample mmmmm pizza! high school buddies a couple of years later! as always, good times at the yaletown that made my friday morning a little painful

camra

poor beleagured camra uk gets blasted by brew dog read the brewdog blog post  to hear what they have to say about camra uk's president vilifying beer bloggers makes me extra happy that camra bc and camra vancouver love beer bloggers and regularly support us by listing us all on their websites and in newsletters! and further yay for the local camra chapters accepting kegs as perfectly good vessels of beer distribution, not just casks that my friends, is support of REAL ale!

molson coors

seems to me that if you want to revive a dying beer market in the uk, making better beer might be the first step thanks molson coors for taking over small craft breweries and making them water down their beers cuz surely that's not at all what's wrong with beer these days or causing flagging sales... for the actual article, click here .

" UK supermarket adds iconic craft beers to its shelves as brewery also signs  big deals with retailers in Denmark, the Netherlands and Australia We now have three of our craft beers available in Morrisons stores! The new deal, which sees three BrewDog brands on Morrisons shelves nationwide, strikes another blow for the brewer’s ‘craft beer revolution’ in  the UK and follows national listings with Tesco and Sainsbury’s supermarkets. Outside the UK, BrewDog has also expanded its off-trade presence in Denmark, the Netherlands and Australia this month." for the full story, click here .

BrewDog's Hardcore IPA

Image
i'm currently swilling BrewDog's Hardcore IPA. at 9% i think i might have a lot of fun at the grocery store in half an hour. better write a list...  oops too late, better to have written that list earlier. label didn't grab me quite as much as the punk ipa, not enough contrast is hard for these old eyes to read - love the general brewdog label theme though, and not ashamed to admit label grab is a large part of my beer purchasing checklist called an explicit imperial ale, i'd argue its an imperious ale. definite toffee notes after the first sip, lovely aroma, still hazy after half an hour (again, what do you expect from a beer with no preservatives and no additives - a little haze ain't such a bad thing!), has me licking my chops and slavering for more. what the label says: "This imperial Indian Pale Ale Rocks... Hardcore! But don’t feel obliged to take our word for it, this little bottle has a grandiloquent story to tell. 2,204 malted Maris Otter g...
