stateside craft

Image
quietly opening on commercial drive last week, stateside craft is the newest craft beer bar in the city portland craft's younger, over-achieving sister will officially open on july 4th but until then, they are soft launching and you can stop in for some wonderful brews and yummy food located in the former avanti's pub in il mercato mall at gravely and commercial it is a whole lot prettier inside than the former pub the female-identified bathroom is 8 million times nicer (thank dog!) bright (or as bright as a place with only a couple of windows can be), polished, open and airy this ain't avanti's, that's for sure and i couldn't be happier now, don't get me wrong, avanti's did me right for many years but their refusal to get any craft beer on tap led me to move my commercial drive beer drinking to st. augustine's as soon as that alternative presented itself now that st. a's has line-ups all the time, i've been jonesing for anoth...

deep cove (2)

i had the pleasure of visiting the deep cove brewers and distillers' in-progress site on thursday they held a bit of an open house for media folks its not the easiest place to get to via transit, but i persevered and, once you get out there, you can visit bridge brewing as well, pretty much across the street (in this case the streets are dollarton highway and forester in north vancouver) beer is always worth the effort of travel! she's in a rough state right now, but the brewery has got good bones! the brewery section is coming along well, with most of the equipment in place and they should be able to begin brewing in the next week or so but the boiler room is empty, there are barrels stacked around equipment and the custom bar (which is gorgeous) is on a pallet that's today though the owners expect to be serving you in their tasting room and on the patio by the end of june the tasting room and patio will not be large, but that's okay, there are plenty of...

hooker's green?

Hooker's Green at the New Oxford - Now Open If you follow the newly fabricated winding raw metal staircase down from the library at the New Oxford, you will be greeted by the dimly lit games area of the newest addition to the Donnelly Group Public Houses, Hooker's Green. Not to be mistaken with ladies of the night, Hooker¹s Green takes its name from a unique shade of green, created by 18th century botanical artist William J. Hooker. The space is complimented by a large covered patio, a massive wooden bar, its own library and of course a well-stocked and stimulating cocktail and beer menu. Open seven days a week from 4pm, Hooker's Green offers a menu of locally sourced modern pub fare and a selection of 14 rotating craft beers on tap. 21st amendment brewery

Image
how many posts can i get out of my visit to 21st amendment brewery in san francisco? well, i took lots of photos and five pages of notes! located at 563 2nd street, it is very close to giants stadium meaning that they get a huge crowd before and after games and they have a special license on game days to open a beer garden in the street next door sa-weet! because i went on a game day i didn't get to have a tour of the brewery itself but since they have a glass wall between the brewery and the pub, i got to see the brewery the interior is all wooden beams and exposed duct work and cinder block walls there is a bar, a lower seating area and a loft bar over the kitchen and like i said, on game days there is a beer garden outside during the giants game the beer garden looked like this: and this is the lower seating area and bar after a game: and this is the disco ball in the brewery!!: thus endeth post #1 about 21st amendment brewery
