beer column

my notes from yesterday's beer column on cbc radio's on the coast: What's going on in beer world this week: - As we head into the latter half of February, it’s Annual General Meeting time here in Vancouver – both the VanBrewers Home Brew club and the Campaign for Real Ale Vancouver (CAMRA) are holding their AGMs this month. VanBrewers on February 20th at Direct Tap and CAMRA on February 27th at the Biltmore – so if you haven’t checked out these organizations yet, now would be a great time. And if you’re already a member, may I suggest you check your membership as it might be time to renew for the coming year! - Budweiser trended on social media when Peyton Manning said in an interview that he’d celebrate his Superbowl win by drinking a lot of beer, and in particular Budweiser beer. Peyton Manning’s love letter to Budweiser did not go unnoticed by craft brewers. The Brewers Association in America responded to Manning by letter, saying that they hoped he would tr...

camra

this is my love letter to camra, the campaign for real ale in vancouver caveat:  i was asked by monica, the communications director of camra vancouver and bc, to write a blog post that she could feature in the next newsletter.  but... she did not ask me to write about camra.  this is not a commissioned piece.  rather it is what i really think and feel, albeit prompted by being asked to write something worthy of being pointed to in a newsletter read by a whole schwack of people! i can't actually remember when i first heard about camra i do remember when i decided to become a member though it was during the inaugural vancouver craft beer week, during the four beers and a funeral pub crawl i had been falling in love with beer for a couple of years, but somehow had not become a part of the craft beer community i saw ads for craft beer week in the media and instantly knew i had to be a part of the events i roped a couple of friends into accompanying me and bought ...

the rest

and the rest of what i wanted to mention but ran outta time on tuesday's beer column on cbc: 1.  all british columbian beer lovers should be camra members!
