yikes -  very behind on my timely posts... the cask last week at the railway was leann's candy dish and it was delish! tasted like a patio and that wasn't just me saying so, i heard it echoed around! i dunno what i was thinking, but somehow "candy dish' equaled peppermint or uber sweet in my mind but it wasn't not at all it was fruity, and tart-sweet it tasted like summer like what you'd want to be drinking on a hot and sweaty patio reminiscent of a fuzzy peach candy, but less sweet the next cask is lundy's collaboration grapefruit ipa thanks r&b for actually letting lundy help make it! the whip was initially offering the vcbw cascadian dark ale cask on sunday afternoon so i had me a pint while the grapefruit ipa chilled to the right temperature the vcbw cascadian dark ale while maltier than i like a cda, it was most drinkable the grapefruit ipa in the fridge then i made the grave mistake of needing food and not just any ...

i was going to be a good little blogger and post about the rest of the events... but there is a cask of lundy's grapefruit ipa at the whip in about half an hour that i need to get my ass over to and drink! see you there???

i had a plan of attack i would arrive right at noon i would hit the casks first then i would find the beers i hadn't yet tried and then i would end with old favourites i like arriving with a plan and i like being okay with changing it all up mid-stride! can you spot waldo?  i mean me? i managed to show up shortly after 12 so far so good! and i managed to try all the casks even better! then... as i am wont to do i got very very chatty and was not sampling as many beers as i could have been however, i love beer talk and i made some very positive connections so i just can't regret using my mouth more for talking than for tasting! i do wish i had taken my mouth around to all the breweries though... the casks: russell nectar of the gods:  i was so excited to be at the festival drinking beer i forgot to actually take the time to enjoy my first beer... i recall liking it... howe sound hip hop ipa:  grapefruit ipa on limited release - a bit too flat out ...

last night's tipple is one i've been tilting back fairly often these days and its my new favourite ipa yes, i have declared a current favourite! green flash brewing co.'s west coast india pale ale 7.3%, 95 ibus, "extravagantly hopped" boy, they're not lying! the bottle says "A menagerie of hops are layered throughout the brewing process.  Simcoe for unique fruitiness and grapefruit zest, Columbus for strong hop pungency, Centennial for pine and citrus notes, Cascade for floral aroma.  A multi-dimensional hop experience." lord, i love this beer thank dog that they carry it by the six pack at firefly its $18 mind you but sometimes you just gotta pay more for what you love! the website says:  " Great beer is a rare thing—a coming together of perfect ingredients and perfect brewing conditions.
