tap take over

Image
i think the elysian brewing tap take over at st. augustine's on monday was the largest i have been to 25 taps of elysian were available (out of the 60 taps at st. a's) so big in fact that st. a's kept running out of taster glasses because everyone was ordering paddles in a vain attempt to try all of the offerings the place was packed and kudos must go to the servers who were run off their feet trying to get us all our beers i made it through eight tasters (and a lobster sandwich) before i tapped out first paddle contained: woo-tang kettle sour mortis persimmon sour ale barrel aged savant ipa zombo experimental ipa second paddle contained: barrel aged loser pale ale cowabunga ipa bombo experimental pale ale huy five pale ale as usual, i didn't take very good notes but here they are regardless and please note that i really quite liked all eight of my beer choices, despite how my notes may sound: woo-tang kettle sour:  yup, that's a sour. ...

legacy liquor store

lots of delicious new beers at legacy liquor store while i was away: Freigeist Bierkultur Geisterzug Spruced Traditional Gose - $6.95 From the far-off continent of Europe, in the great land that is Germany—Köln specifically—comes a simply delicious brew. Amber in colour with a hint of grapefruit pink, its nose of German yeast, faint lemon peel and a touch of spruce pairs perfectly with a palate of gentle acidity, more yeast, zippy salt and once again a touch of spruce in the finish. A session-able and refreshing beer all the way through. Joel Wilson | Beer Team | Legacy Liquor Store Elysian Brewing Co. Split Shot Espresso Milk Stout - $8.15 The ultimate collaboration of two of the best things Seattle has to offer: beer and coffee. Rich and dark in the glass with a big robust nose of espresso and just a hint of dark chocolate, followed by more coffee and chocolate in perfect harmony on the palate. Robust and creamy, this brew was made for the lover of all things Seattle. Evan Doan...

new beers coming to town

Image
there are so many great beers coming to town! beerthirst is bringing us beers from the bruery! "From their wide landscape of experimental ales that are brewed in the Belgian tradition, the Rue family has made quite the name for themselves in a very short time. Their ratings speak for themselves on websites such as Ratebeer.com , where 90% of their beers score from 93 to 100. These unique, barrel-aged, bottle conditioned beers are so good that, the craft beer aficionados in BC have been known to drive out to Bellingham and even Seattle, in order to get their hands on these wonderful creations. Well, that is about to change very soon because The Bruery is coming to BC! The wait is over folks. The Bruery has finally agreed to send their beers up north. We've been fans of this brewery for quite some time and we're absolutely thrilled to import these fine ales for the good people of British Columbia! The Bruery is a small craft brewery located in Orange County, Califor...

legacy liquor store

new and exciting beers at legacy liquor store in vancouver: Brasserie Ellezelloise - Hercule Stout - $5.35 Hercules! Hercules! Hercules! This deep dark Belgian stout pours a dark mahogany while nuts, raisins and toffee play on the nose. Dark malt, chocolate and coffee make this Belgian stout a true contender for the title of Herculean. Elysian Brewing - Savant IPA - $8.95 Part of Elysian Brewing's Manic IPA series, this beer is the definition of a fabulous India Pale Ale. Pouring almost bronze in colour, with orange and pine on the nose, Savant is a true west coast IPA in both flavour and style. Omission Brewing - Gluten-Free Pale Ale - $17.90 Celiacs rejoice! From the heartland of beer - Portland, Oregon - comes a gluten free American Pale Ale that fits the bill when it comes to quenching thirst. Amber in colour with notes of citrus and malt, with more of the same dancing on the palate, it's a great start to brewing a better gluten-free beer.

curious

i am curious by nature aren't most humans? and i love getting the behind the scenes stories on things like the 12 beers of the apocalypse from elysian ROBIN HOOD'S BARN Dick's Last Blog Now that the end is in sight-of the world of course, but also of the pretty substantial undertaking that has been the 12 Beers of the Apocalypse-it's probably safe to spill a little of how a lot of it has come together. Some of the beers have been reinterpretations of beers we've done in the past-Nibiru not so unlike Toro Oro, another Belgian-style golden ale infused with yerba mate; not actually so unlike New Belgium's Jonny's Voodoo Ale, for anyone who remembers that delicious and innovative beer; Doom itself a hop, skip and a jump from Sextacula, the beer we brewed for our fifteenth anniversary, which itself was a bigger version of Triacula, crafted originally for an Iron Brewer competition at the Beveridge Place. There is truly nothing new, in case you haven...

new and exciting beers: Elysian Dark O' The Moon Pumpkin Stout - $12.55 Stout brewed with pumpkin and pumpkin seeds with cinnamon added. Spookily smooth and chocolatey with a touch of cinnamon. It won 2010 GABF Silver Medal in the Field Beer category. Phillips and Great Lakes Brewery Puzzler Belgian Black IPA - $6.35 This beer is the collaborative result of two Canadian craft breweries three provinces apart coming together in Victoria to combine yeast from Belgium with hops from the Pacific Northwest in a rich Black Ale. Whistler Chestnut Ale Limited Edition - $6.50 This limited release is a true reflection of Fall. Blended robust caramel and crystal malts to give the brew deep brown amber hues, for an almost warming appearance. However it's the roasted chestnuts that impart a unique and bold nutty character, complemented by a light level of hops, for a clean yet crisp finish.
