happy canadian thanksgiving! in a totally non-traditional taking advantage of another culture sorta way and where much beer is shared and enjoyed! craftbeer.com deconstructs the beautiful beverage the craft beer craze has gone mainstream and takes off in the lower mainland the birthplace of craft beer in bc gets a makeover more evidence that beer is good for you (duh!) you have until today to cast your vote in the northwest brewing news' best of readers' choice awards why bc is king of the craft brew scene because i still haven't gotten to part 3 of my gcbf review , here's someone else's!

whining

i hate when i get super busy at work putting in over-time, skipping lunches (the time off, not the food!) and the blog suffers (as does my sleep and my social life) luckily for me (but again, not for the blog) i am off to america this weekend canadian thanksgiving spent in america where they extol the virtues of a mass murderer with a civic holiday... sure, why not? they have good beer there! and i aim to drink a bunch of it while not thinking about work once i am headed to seaside, oregon with a stop in seattle and astoria and cannon beach and anywhere else we find along the way for beer drinking! i just have to get through the work day tomorrow unscathed...

weekend

i will be spending a fair bit of time this weekend at bc place tonight to watch the lions beat the pants off the roughriders sunday to watch the whitecaps and timbers battle it out it will be delightful but but what the heck am i going to drink? there is no good beer at bc place there is not even half decent beer at bc place there is no good cider at bc place there is passably drinkable cider at bc place maybe i will watch the games sober it has been suggested that i bring hop oil with me and make an ipl out of what's available to me maybe... but i am not gonna drink from the taps no way, no how - gross! file this under first world beer geek problems

these are my notes from yesterday's beer column on cbc radio's on the coast: Oh, look at that, its October - and that can mean only one thing... it's time to talk about B.C. Craft Beer Month!  Year three brings a few new events and the return of some favourite province-wide events - for the whole list, see the website at www.craftbeermonth.ca . Some of the local highlights are: On Thursday evening there's the Beer Battle Royale at Doolin's pub - this is where four breweries battle it out to have their keg drained first. Winner gets bragging rights and their beer featured on tap for the month of November. Battling this year are Four Winds, Granville Island , R&B and Steamworks; There will be a brewmaster dinner at the Pumphouse in Richmond this Friday, and one at Hop and Vine in Vancouver on Friday, October 25th; There will be a women and beer dinner at Darby's pub on Monday, October 21st; New this year, there will be an already sold-out ...
