guilt & co.

i had the pleasure of attending a networking charity event at guilt & co. the other night
i'd heard good things about guilt & co., but hadn't been there before

i don't think i managed to make any contacts
but i definitely found another drinking establishment with a great beer list!

on tap they have:
grolscsh
black lager
blanche de chambly
house of holy lager
longboat chocolate porter
blue buck pale ale

in bottles they have:
st. ambrose - apricot ale, oatmeal stout
unibroue - chambly noir, ephemere and fin du monde
propeller - bitter
big rock - traditional and grasshopper
phillips - slipstream cream ale, phoenix lager, amnesiac ipa
sleeman - honey brown and cream ale
natureland - organic amber and organic lager
stanley park - 1897 amber
anchor - liberty ale
north coast - red seal ale
rogue - dead guy ale
old rasputin russian imperial stout
dogfish head - ipa
newcastle - brown ale
guinness
smithwicks - ale
innis & gunn - oak aged beer
gulden draak - dark triple
piraat
chimay blue
leffe blonde
hoegaarden
kronenburg 1664
warsteiner premium verum
heineken lager
peroni nastro azzurro
pearl river - zhu jiang beer
tsing tao
tiger beer
tuborg gold
sapporo premium
negro modello
carib lager
dos equis
strongbow

we didn't eat from the menu, but if the food is as good as the appetizers were, then its some place i could see going for a nice dinner and drinks gathering
gotta love a place that has tapenade as an add-on
and wheels of cheese behind the bar

guilt & co. is located in the basement under chill winston's
at 1 alexander in gastown in vancouver

all exposed brick and stone
with a unisex bathroom (with windows into the main room from the bathroom, odd)
and a back room with life sized genga games
this is a funky place
all the servers wear fedoras and are of the hipster persuasion
the place seems to be trying a little too hard to be edgy and fabulous
but i had a good time there, so i obviously don't mind the slightly heavy hand

tree brewing was the beer sponsor for the charity event
and brought with them hop head ipa, cutthroat pale ale and thirsty beaver amber ale
they ran out of the hophead before i could get a second one
so i tried to switch to the dogfish head, but they'd run out of that too
not a problem, i had the amnesiac double ipa
and of course, it was delicious!

at 7:00 every tuesday, wednesday and thursday, guilt & co. pour 48 portions of a special order belgian beer and pair it with a cheese and release it into the wild
this i presume means that if you're there at 7:00 you get to have a free sample
as far as gimmicks go, i think this one sounds great!
