On Saturday, October 10, Salt Spring Island Ales hosts the highlight Sip & Savour tasting event from 1 to 4 pm.  This free event is an opportunity to sample local and regional wine, cider, beer and beverages along with farm-fresh food and products from Salt Spring.  This must-attend 'Sip' event is a family-friendly part of the Thanksgiving weekend experience.  

Salt Spring Island, BC - Salt Spring Island, one of the organic capitals of Canada, celebrates the fall harvest on Thanksgiving weekend with its annual food and drink festival.  Sip & Savour Salt Spring, takes place October 9-11, and brings together growers, farmers, food producers and chefs from Salt Spring Island, vintners representing the Vancouver Island wine growing region, craft brewers, cideries and distillers.  Become an islander for three days of sipping, savouring and living the Salt Spring Island farm-to-table dream.  



5th Annual Sip & Savour: Salt Spring celebrates fall bounty, October 9-11, 2015


Fall is a great time for a foodie's experience on Salt Spring Island.   Included is: the 16the Annual Apple Festival on October 4, Sip & Savour Salt Spring from October 9-11, and the Harvest Grape Stomp on October 17.  Additionally the Salt Spring National Art Prize exhibition is open to the public from September 25 to October 24. 

Explore the fall harvest at the famous Salt Spring Saturday Market.  Sample local, fresh food and drinks while on a Salt Spring Island culinary tour; savour local ingredients with special menus offered at many restaurants throughout the Sip & Savour weekend; look out for harvest theme and Thanksgiving long-table dinners featuring live music hosted in unique settings (reservations required).   Visit sipandsavoursaltspring.com for a list of participating restaurants.

But have you ruminated on just how large the gender gap is?  A 2018 survey by Nielsen-Harris  found American craft beer drinkers are 68.5 per cent male and 31.5 per cent female. Closer to home,  BeerMeBC’s 2018 survey  had those numbers at 71 and 29 per cent, with 0.32 per cent identifying as “other.” For those not so strong in the math department, that means that there are only three women drinking craft beer for every seven men.
